When a thank you comes in the form of a cookie

When it comes in the form of a cookie and from young people you can be sure that was a treat that really made their day. Such was the case when a 4-H club decide to thank people they felt were important to the community. The police department was not their only stop that day, they also made deliveries to the fire department and the library among a couple of other places.
Bless their hearts for thinking of others.
Police officer rights-eating a meal
Posted: July 25, 2011 Filed under: Police officer rights 2 Comments »This month’s officer’s right comes from my daughter who witnessed a man interrupting the meal of two officers at a local fast food restaurant. According to my daughter, the look on one officer’s face seemed to say that he just want to enjoy his meal in peace.
I’m not sure how to word it since I could go with…
-the right to enjoy a meal from start to finish without someone coming up to their table and demanding their attention.
or…
-the right to address their hunger without being interrupted.
or…
-the right to eat their food in peace.
However you look at it, officers deserve the same right that we all enjoy-eating a meal in peace without having to give up the right to a full and satisfied stomach.
Two officers, one terrible day

Officer Robert Etter and Officer Stephanie Markins were killed when the driver of a full-size pickup truck deliberately struck their patrol car while it was stopped at a stop sign in the 3800-block of West Mason Street (Highway 54) at 1622 hours.
As the suspect approached the patrol car, he accelerated to approximately 70 mph and struck the patrol car on the driver’s side without ever applying his brakes. Officer Etter, sitting in the passenger’s seat, was ejected from the patrol car and Officer Markins was pinned inside. Both officers died at the scene. The suspect, who was out looking to kill a police officer, was arrested. (odmp.org)

Every moment they are not in uniform they will be wearing a kilt (not a skirt), a real kilt. Read more about it here.

What have you done today?
Posted: July 16, 2011 Filed under: What have you done today? Leave a comment »Today I did everything I could to escape the humidity. I have central air conditioning, a fan, lots of ice cubes, cold sodas in the fridge and cool comfortable clothing.
Today officers…
-came to the assistance of the public in temperatures ranging from somewhere in the 80′s to over 100 degrees…while wearing their vests.

Changes

Every now and then life and illness gets in the way of getting things done. Hopefully these instances will be far and few between. I really believe there needs to be more support shown for Law Enforcement and having a Law Enforcement blog is one way to do this.
There will be a few changes to the blog coming up. I’d like to add some great blogs to the blog roll. And get back to some of the feature posts, “Police Officer Rights,” and “What have you done today?
