Police officer rights-eating a meal
Posted: July 25, 2011 Filed under: Police officer rights 2 Comments »This month’s officer’s right comes from my daughter who witnessed a man interrupting the meal of two officers at a local fast food restaurant. According to my daughter, the look on one officer’s face seemed to say that he just want to enjoy his meal in peace.
I’m not sure how to word it since I could go with…
-the right to enjoy a meal from start to finish without someone coming up to their table and demanding their attention.
or…
-the right to address their hunger without being interrupted.
or…
-the right to eat their food in peace.
However you look at it, officers deserve the same right that we all enjoy-eating a meal in peace without having to give up the right to a full and satisfied stomach.

I think a lot of citizens believe that cops don’t have a right to eat, or a right to sit down, when they are in uniform. They are getting paid and by golly, they better be working!
My husband almost never goes out to eat while on shift in uniform because of the dirty looks and flat out harassment he receives. “I pay your salary, you should stop wasting time eating and get to work catching the bad guys!” It’s just not worth it.
That’s just unreal that people can’t understand the need for officers to eat. To me it’s just common sense. People need to eat…and to eat in peace!
