Recently, a guy in a van drove in our driveway, ran up and rang our doorbell and to my surprise…wanted to sell me a couple of steaks that he had out in the back of his van. No kidding. So Mr. Do-anything-to-make-a-quick-buck…..
If you run up and ring my doorbell selling meat from the back of your van….
you can expect me to have a few questions.
Like….
How recent was the kill? (Road kill is not my thing.)
Does the meat inspector guy know what you’re doing?
Does the health inspector guy know what you’re doing?
If you didn’t kill it yourself, then who did?
And how recent was that?
How many days has that meat been sitting in your van?
Do you really expect to make a living doing this?
How have you been storing this meat prior to the cold weather?
Don’t you need a license for this?
Permits, perhaps?
How many takers have you had?
What is your day job?

Also known as the klan, those happy-go-lucky folks are in our area. They’ve been here for some time but lately one of them decided to fly a flag that proves his brain is on hold. I have no idea what, if anything, they will do. Likely they’ll just do what they always do, fight amongst themselves, fight amongst their neighbors, get a ride to jail, etc.
I have a special hatred for their rhetoric. I grew up with a parent that tried to impose the beliefs of the ‘kl-n’ onto his children. He was abusive towards them. And also violent to a point where he wanted to inflict harm on innocent people he didn’t even know. Convinced the government was out to get him and his property and felt it was necessary to “defend” it. Without going into too much detail, he was a very hateful, suspicious person that I always considered crazy. In a way, believing that everything he said was a lie, turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Whatever he tried to teach us, I believed the opposite.
As a parent, I made sure my children were grounded in the belief that no one group of people is better than another. There are good and bad people wherever you look. I find though, that there are people who are smarter than me, better looking, have better morals, have greater wisdom, better spiritual knowledge. They work harder, are blessed with more talents and abilities than me. Yet, we have the same importance and deserve the same love that was given to us by our Creator.
Having said that, there are people I don’t like. But the reason I don’t care for them is that they truly are rotten people. It’s their lack of character that I can’t stand, not what they look like.
How people could want to join the cone-heads and think they are a good bunch of people to be around is beyond me. Have they ever seen anyone in these groups with a look of joy on their face? All I’ve ever seen is a bunch of angry, bald-headed, knuckle-draggers or the cone-head-costume-wearing nitwits. They need some happiness in their life. Maybe someone should send them some flowers, or teddy-bears to hug. Tapes of Mr. Rogers Neighborhood might do the trick too. Or how about a Tickle-me-Elmo?
I don’t know what I will do if I ever have any type of encounter with them. I do hope they find a cure for whatever ails them though.

I wish I could distance myself from some people. And their drama. And the troubles they bring on themselves just because they’re that brainless.
I don’t know how people can stand to live like they do. What is it about this lifestyle that is so compelling? They are a real headache to deal with and I usually have to walk away from it before I lose my temper.
Maybe I should start taking notes in front of these drama queens and tell them I’m submitting it for some reality TV show or soap opera.
The cast of characters include a dude who thinks he’s a Daniel Boone-type and traps animals, legally and illegally. He even wears a coon skin hat. We try to stay clear of him as much as possible. One time we were on a four-lane divided highway just driving along when Daniel Boone pulls alongside us and starts staring at us. We are trying to make a lane change into the other lane because there is a semi stopped in our lane up ahead. Daniel Boone also slows down. We slow down some more almost coming to a stop wondering when dumb-dumb is going to get a clue about our situation and let us get into his lane before we hit the stopped semi (not that we would). Finally dumb-dumb lets us in his lane and off they go, leaving us fuming.
He’s had some trouble with the law to say the least. My favorite story is when he was pepper-sprayed by the police, twice. As the story is told by the in-laws, he was just minding his own business and doing nothing illegal (that just means he didn’t get caught, so it wasn’t illegal). The police come along and start harassing him about nothing but he ends up getting pepper-sprayed anyway, for nothing. And as another in-law likes to tell it, “They knew he was allergic to pepper-spray, so they sprayed him again.” Apparently he got angry and put up a fight. The allergic reaction to the pepper-spray was that he messed his pants something awful. Aww. I just feel sorry for the officers that had to put him in the squad car and take him to jail. As a result of his doing nothing illegal he had to take anger management classes after that.
Another character is the Rock Star in-law. He thinks the police harassed him because he looked like a rock star. He had long blond hair and wore tight pants. He likes to drink. He likes to drink and drive. He lives in complete filth. The neighbors have threatened to turn him in to the health department. Of course his mother thinks the neighbors are out to get her boy and are all conspiring against him. So she cleaned up his place for him and moved in. When the Rock Star along gets tired of trashing the other place he moves back into the cleaned-up house and then went that gets filthy again, the cleaning-moving cycle starts all over again. Wonderful maid service to have, especially when it’s free.
Miss Drama Queen (the family’s head drama queen) feels that since she’s young and knows it all, everyone should focus their attention on her whenever she’s around. I refuse to give her any attention but after her repeated insults to my children, there may come a time when she is going to need a good talking to. I’ll have to bring a sign, “Drama-Free Zone,” and a can of drama-repellent with me.

A preacher friend of mine if fond of saying (with a little sarcasm since he doesn’t believe this), “If we all think good, do good…everything, everyone around us will be good.”
Well it doesn’t work that way. We can think all the good, happy thoughts we want but people are still going to be evil. I’m all for having a positive influence on those around us but sometimes that’s just not possible. That’s not reality.
I came across a comment made by someone (who claims to have anarchist leanings) regarding the role of police officers in communities. They seem to be under the impression that we need PEACE officers and not police officers. I guess they think if officers would respond to crime in a “peaceful manner” we will have less crime and we’ll all get along and everything will be wonderful.
That might work where I live. I mean, we don’t have any crime like…people selling drugs, people firing weapons, murders, rape, child molestation, wife-beating and meth labs. No one here with a police record flees the police. No one tries to run down innocent civilians. There’s no hit and run accidents. No one let’s their child drive for them because they’re too drunk. No one threatens their mother with a knife. Nope, we all get along.
I don’t know what reality this person lives in…or what he smoked too much of, but even here in Mayberry, USA, folks need a little more force applied to them in certain situations. I have to wonder if the “happy-thought guy” were to have a gun pointed at him, after he had been beaten, would want the PEACE officers to arrive with only happy thoughts and with no intent on using any of the tools on their belt to defend him?
Is it that they smoked too many drugs, got dropped when they were babies, or they were raised by hippies that makes them this out of touch with reality?

From Officerresource.com….
Officer asked to leave Oregon coffee shop
The Red & Black Cafe is no place for a man in blue.
Police Officer James Crooker was asked to leave the vegan coffee shop in Portland, Ore., last month, a discriminatory move but not altogether uncommon at the java joint, a detective told FoxNews.com.
Here is a video and another article about the incident. Portland officer shown the door at anarchist cafe.
The manager says he doesn’t feel safe having this officer (a former Marine who served in Iraq) at his business. The police “prey” on people, according to the nut. Really? What do the criminals in the area do? Hold hands with their victims and pray with them? Unbelievable! Who will the manager call when he’s robbed?
According to the video, a woman and her daughter were trying to thank the officer when the manager came up to them and interrupted their conversation and at that point told the officer to leave. I’d say this manager has more issues than he knows.
On the cafe’s website their policy is to “strive to provide a community space that is safe and welcoming to all.” I have to wonder, now does this “policy” also include welcoming robbers, rapists, murderers? After all they wouldn’t want anyone to feel unwelcome.
“I never expected a police officer to come into the space,” he said. “If it happened again, I wouldn’t serve him.” (from oregonlive.com) So in other words, this officer showed more love to you, a complete stranger, than all your “peace-love-hippy-nonsense-bologny” could come up with. You, sir, do not know the meaning of the words love, honor, integrity, kindness and decency. And you never will.
Stupidity knows no bounds. Or is it….you can’t fix stupid.
