In one of my last posts I mentioned a rise in the line of duty deaths and the possible reason for that rise. I have never been able to comprehend the mindset of these evil people, even before I became a Law Enforcement supporter, so now I am at a loss to even begin to grasp how some can post on their blog their intent to harm officers if those officers carry out the duties they swore an oath to obey.
What follows are my thoughts, on the Constitution, my rights as a citizen of this country, as a Christian, and of my dear friends who wear the uniform of an officer.
It is completely unacceptable and evil to think of killing a police officer.
Can any sane person think of any reason to take the life of an officer?
I can’t.
I’m thankful for the Constitution of our great country. I’m thankful for my rights. I think the Constitution is one of the most important documents ever written. I can’t imagine life without it. I wouldn’t want to live in this country without this great document protecting my rights.
Remember the Preamble to the Constitution? It uses words like; establish justice, insure domestic tranquility…promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America. This sounds as though the welfare and tranquility of the people were of great importance to the people who wrote it. The Constitution is based on these principles of promoting liberty and general welfare (which necessarily implies life). How can the Constitution be used to justify killing innocent citizens?
A few crazy, non-sane people believe there may come a time when they would have to kill to keep their constitutional rights because they have convinced themselves there’s a conspiracy afoot. In the past 200+ years, no one has turned this country into a socialist one. You would think if it were that important someone would have thought of a good way to do it by now.
The country is still run much the way it was 200+ years ago, we still have a congress that meets, we still have public debates, and we still have elections where we cast our votes.
Who is the enemy?
Since the enemy is not our Constitution, it’s not a political party run amok, it’s not political debates, it’s not our election process, who then is the enemy?
Maybe someone who contemplates killing police officers to protect the Constitution can clarify that for the rest of us sane, peaceful people.
Like? No, it’s called love.
I like many of the officers I’ve met in my 8 years as a supporter. A few are very dear to me and some I’ve come to love. They are special people to me. They are not our enemy. In fact, they have been a friend to many of us in times when we needed someone. Like? I like them, sure. But I love the men and women who are willing to give more than most can imagine. As is found in the Bible, love does not seek its own. As a christian, I don’t even consider my rights any time I have contact with an officer. They are not more important than the person in uniform. That officer’s needs are above my own, always. That’s love.
Keep the most important oath.
What would cause someone who takes one of the greatest oaths and abandon it for another oath based on something that, in all likelihood, will never happen. We have enough evil brazen enough to kill a police officer, we don’t need more.
Our Resolve.
Finally, let us remember our resolve and support of Law Enforcement.
“It is the responsibility of each of us to hear their cries, witness their tears, share their grief, but perhaps more importantly, we must realize that these losses suffered are worthy of our closest scrutinies and undivided attentions….The sacrifices of our honored dead should sound alarms throughout our society, and we as a people should take the offense of the killing of our protectors with the same indignation felt by the closest relation to these officers. They have displayed for us the greatest of all loves, and deserve that we display to them the highest of all honors; our resolve.” ( by Countybear at Officerresource.com; used with permission.)
Our prayers are not only for those who rule over us in government but especially for those who protect us.

Also known as the klan, those happy-go-lucky folks are in our area. They’ve been here for some time but lately one of them decided to fly a flag that proves his brain is on hold. I have no idea what, if anything, they will do. Likely they’ll just do what they always do, fight amongst themselves, fight amongst their neighbors, get a ride to jail, etc.
I have a special hatred for their rhetoric. I grew up with a parent that tried to impose the beliefs of the ‘kl-n’ onto his children. He was abusive towards them. And also violent to a point where he wanted to inflict harm on innocent people he didn’t even know. Convinced the government was out to get him and his property and felt it was necessary to “defend” it. Without going into too much detail, he was a very hateful, suspicious person that I always considered crazy. In a way, believing that everything he said was a lie, turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Whatever he tried to teach us, I believed the opposite.
As a parent, I made sure my children were grounded in the belief that no one group of people is better than another. There are good and bad people wherever you look. I find though, that there are people who are smarter than me, better looking, have better morals, have greater wisdom, better spiritual knowledge. They work harder, are blessed with more talents and abilities than me. Yet, we have the same importance and deserve the same love that was given to us by our Creator.
Having said that, there are people I don’t like. But the reason I don’t care for them is that they truly are rotten people. It’s their lack of character that I can’t stand, not what they look like.
How people could want to join the cone-heads and think they are a good bunch of people to be around is beyond me. Have they ever seen anyone in these groups with a look of joy on their face? All I’ve ever seen is a bunch of angry, bald-headed, knuckle-draggers or the cone-head-costume-wearing nitwits. They need some happiness in their life. Maybe someone should send them some flowers, or teddy-bears to hug. Tapes of Mr. Rogers Neighborhood might do the trick too. Or how about a Tickle-me-Elmo?
I don’t know what I will do if I ever have any type of encounter with them. I do hope they find a cure for whatever ails them though.

I came across this post on a blog dealing with illnesses. It’s about a bipolar man who walked out into traffic and was tased twice. He later died. Here is a news article about the incident.
The blogger suggests that the fault lies with the police due to ignorance in dealing with the mentally ill. She suggests that “anyone of us (and I’m assuming she means the mentally ill) could be killed by the police.” She also says that, “mentally ill people are NOT criminals, nor are their family members.”
First off, I take issue with the idea that “anyone of us could be killed by the police.” I have contact with the police on a regular basis and I can tell you, causing the death of any person is the last thing they would ever want to do. It hurts them greatly to have to defend themselves to the point of deadly force. They too, are traumatized by any death that results in the use of deadly force. It’s a tragedy all around. Now do you honestly think the police look forward to the death of someone?
And we will not be killed by the police simply for having a medical condition. It is the circumstances and behavior of the individual that dictates what level of force that is necessary for the police to use. The safety of the innocent bystanders are of primary concern, and yet so is the safety of the individual they are dealing with. The police have a tremendous burden of maintaining the safety of all individuals in any incident.
So the mentally ill never commit crime? Never? That’s not what the mentally ill inmates in prisons say. They can and do commit crime. And their family members don’t commit crime either? Family members don’t interfere with the police when said mentally ill criminals are arrested? I think not.
Many people claim to have mental illnesses, such as bipolar, and use this as an excuse to get away with crime. Would you say this is a misrepresentation of persons with bipolar? The media sensationalizes their acts of crime and blows them out of proportion, just as, with the isolated incidences of the use of the taser to defend innocent people, where death is later reported. Both are wrong, as it gives the impression that it occurs more than it does and most often the truth of the matter goes unreported. That’s the media for you. Don’t believe everything you read.
Just as you would not want us to fear bipolar people because of what we read in the media likewise it would be wrong to perpetuate a fear the police. We need to speak up and look for the truth behind the headlines. Having these false impressions has a direct effect on those we should care about, bipolar people and our police officers. People will act out negatively if they believe they have reason to fear bipolar people and the police. Neither groups of people deserve this.
Let’s get at the truth of the matter…
The police are not ignorant when dealing with people they are sworn to protect. Keeping people alive is what they train for, day and night. It’s why they became police officers, dispatchers, corrections officers.
The police do not kill people. They defend themselves and others against danger. The police will rather take a bullet themselves then let an innocent person die.
The police are not ignorant nor clueless. They are very highly-trained, educated individuals.
The police deserve the right to be in good-standing with the community. They deserve the right to carry out their duties without the public fearing harm from them.
It’s not the police who are ignorant.

Taking one on the chin shouldn’t be in the job description if you’re a postal worker, waitress and especially if you’re a police officer. Funny how people would be outraged if a postal worker or waitress got punched but when it’s a police officer….he’s expected to be able to take it? If the officer goes down, there goes our protection from criminals intent on harming us. No, the officer should never be expected to take a punch.
