If not for the goodness of…

-I would not have had a decent place to stay when I was a teenager. Robin watched over me and made sure I was not taken advantage of by anyone. She was a mentor and sister to me. She prayed for me, taught me about the Bible, and showed me how to live a better life.
-I would not have had a good friend like Jean to pal around with during high school. She was a good friend who accepted me as I was, but pointed out my flaws to help me be a better person.
-I would not have had the courage and determination to go through the withdrawal of a prescription pain medication. Val knew I was apprehensive about going off the med, especially since I was still experiencing pain. She called to reassure me that I had the strength to do it and that I was not alone. She cheered me on during those first few days and weeks. She would call just to check up on me to see how I was doing physically. She cared enough about me to see to it that I was following her advice on what to do as alternatives to taking the pain med. She offered spiritual reminders as well by way of phone calls and cards. She continues to be a source of strength and if not for her goodness, I would not be where I am today.
-I would not have some of the strength, character and courage that John has brought out in me. He is a good friend. I once told him, some people will tell you nice things about yourself but a friend will tell you what you may or may not want to hear. I can count on my fingers the number of men I trust and/or love and John is one of them. I admire him and wish I had a tenth of what he has as a person.
-I would not have had the prayers said, on my behalf, to get well, to get through a crisis or to just have peace in my life; prayers offered up by complete strangers whose only concern was for me to have a better life.
-I would not have had my driveway plowed out on some of the heaviest snow days. Thankfully, Mark would think to check on us to make sure we were able to make it out of our driveway to be able to go where we needed. He comes over, without ever being asked, and proceeds to plow out our driveway, whether or not he gets desserts for it. He’ll often send food home with my husband. When he calls, he asks how we all are doing. That’s just a sampling of what Mark has done for us. He is a good friend and at times, we would be lost if not for his goodness.
If not for the goodness of ______(insert race) people, I would not have hugs, smiles, warmth, encouragement, food on our table, reduced stress, laughter, prayers, sanity, love, and countless other examples of the goodness (of any race) of people.
As a matter of fact, if not for the character, determination, intelligence, strength, etc, of all races of people, we would not have many of the freedoms and material things we enjoy today. As people talk about the lack of character in some, they forget about the good that people of all races accomplished in this country. Yes, there’s crime. But did these complainers forget, or perhaps never really understood, the fact that good people of all races do exist and we benefit from their accomplishments all the time?
No one race has a monopoly on crime, intelligence, beauty, or goodness for that matter. Did God not create all human beings and saw that what He created was good? Personally I believe, if God created something, then that makes it wonderful and full of awe.
Many websites and blogs have been created simply to be used as a tool to harm and complain about people of different races. They also use them to talk about how great their race supposedly is, all to make themselves feel better. They look to studies and their own prejudices as justification for their warped views. I don’t need a study to tell me when my neighbor is smarter than me. I don’t need a study to tell me when a friend is wiser than me. I don’t need too much experience to tell me when someone is not a good person. I can figure these things out for myself.
,Laziness, drama and criminal intent are traits we can find in any race and in some cases, some races seem to have an abundance of it at times, white people come to mind, especially in the case of my relatives. Some of the worst evil people I have ever known, have been white people. Should I start saying white people are ugly and good-for-nothing just because that has been my experience with this race?
If not for the goodness of white, black, Native American people, I would not be where I am today. God be thanked for giving us all, people to care for us, to pray for us, to admonish us, to direct us, and, most importantly, to love us. God bless them for being who they are despite being told hateful things to the contrary.

Many people don’t seem to think so.
So, I’d like to do a series of posts titled, “Police Officer Rights” about the rights I believe all officers should have.
Police Officer right # 30- The right to watch out for the safety of a crowd and not be considered rude when he doesn’t chat with a tourist.
Police Officer right # 13 -The right to be quoted in the media in an accurate manner.
Police Officer right # 4 -The right to have his or her commands obeyed without question.
Newly added:
Police Officer right -The right to have a bad day once in a while- just like everyone else.
Police Officer right - The right to have their questions answered respectfully and honestly.
If you can think of any to add, just post them in the reply and I’ll add them later.
(Number them any order you choose.)
To add: If you feel the wording isn’t quite right feel free to change it.
